Needlework (petechial hemorrhages)
The work will be installed in the windows of the needlework room.

The room (like many at Wallington) is protected from daylight which would over time cause severe damage to the beautiful needlework pieces.
When first visiting Wallington I was struck by the ongoing battle with light that is waged everyday; less light means more life for the contents of the hall ; the room contains illustrative information on the ravages, assaults and depreciations of light.
The sheets can be seen as a point of entry and exit, perhaps echoing the laborious and contemplative push and pull of the needleworkers piercing activity; the light puncturing through past to future.
